Non-metallic trace element

Definition

Its name comes from an ancient deities representing the moon. It is a non-metallic trace element that has antioxidant action, synergistically with vitamin E. Its irregular distribution in the ground is transmitted to plants cultivated in those areas, this results in deficiency forms that are endemic to certain geographical areas.

Biological Role

The basic function of Selenium is to counteract the action of free radicals that damage tissues and are responsible for premature aging. It can be said to be more specific, that:

Preserves normal liver functioning
Improves resistance to diseases
Keeps eyes healthy and with a good visual function
Acts as an anti-inflammatory agent
Protects against oxidizing substances produced in the organism

The presence of this trace element is essential when it comes to support all the events that imply a slowing of the movement attitude of the subject:

Reluctance to move
